Stephén Hood

Stephén earned his Bachelor of Arts in sociology from West Chester University in 2014 followed by a master’s degree in social work, and further went on to obtain a master’s degree in counseling , with a certification in school counseling, from West Chester University. He is currently working as the lead counselor at TLC Leadership Academy, an alternative secondary school serving children and adolescents diagnosed with varying disorders. In addition to serving within the school system, Stephén spent 4 years as a behavioral therapist, with a certification as a brain injury specialist, for adults struggling with traumatic brain injuries, as well as addiction and co-occurring diagnoses. Through his personal and professional experiences, Stephén has developed a therapeutic toolset that fosters a patient, empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach with all clients he serves. His mission is to provide proactive and responsive counseling services that strive to help the helpless, instill hope in the hopeless, empower the powerless, and advocate for equity among the unjust in achieving success and perpetual growth. While creating safe spaces, and encompassing a passion for helping provide opportunity for clients’ personal development, Stephén utilizes a person-centered approach in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to ensure needs are met, resiliency is built, and goals are reached.
